95 + by Antonio Galloni

« One of the stars of the vintage, the 2014 Les Carmes Haut-Brion is total knock-out. Graphite, smoke, red cherry jam, spice, cured meat, pomegranate and tobacco are just some of the myriad sensations that race out of the glass. Today, the 2014 is gloriously ample on the palate, with remarkable nuance for a wine of […]

New tasting of the Carmes Haut-Brion 2013 in bottle, by Neal Martin : 92 points « … one of the very few 2013s that will need bottle age. »

Neal Martin has recently reviewed the Carmes Haut-Brion 2013 in bottle, hereunder his tasting notes.
« When I originally tasted the 2013 Les Carmes Haut Brion, I found it a difficult wine to assess. Having visited the property and seen the multi-million euro investment within the vineyard and Philippe Stark-designed winery, plus the reductive method of winemaker, […]

Harvest 2016

Regarding the positive weather forecast for the coming days, the 2016 vintage is beginning to take shape…. for the Merlots at least.
After an exceptionally hot and dry summer (only 10mm of water in Pessac between June 24 and September 15 …), the maturation drags on, conferring to the cycle an exceptional length, young vines apart.
We […]

Antonio Galloni’s tasting notes about Les Carmes Haut-Brion 2012 : « Don’t miss it! »

Antonio Galloni’s Tasting notes on 2012 – www.vinous.com – January 2016
2012    Les Carmes Haut-Brion       – 94

A powerful, intense wine, the 2012 Les Carmes Haut-Brion exudes richness and depth. Game, smoke, tobacco, grilled herbs, black cherries and incense are some of the signatures. This explosive, powerful Pessac is going to need time to settle down, but it […]

2015 Harvest started this Monday at Les Carmes Haut-Brion!

The harvest began on Monday this week at Les Carmes Haut-Brion for the 2015 vintage, a year with extreme weather conditions that will stay in all memories. If good wines gets better with age, Les Carmes is no exception to the rule : Parker just gave a higher note to our 2005!

Les Carmes Haut-Brion 2014 : 93/100
« This 2005 offers a fabulous bouquet of forest floor and flowers, a dark plum/ruby/purple color, and medium body. Super-intense but light on its feet, this beauty seems to be close to full maturity. Complex and cerebral, this stunner is just now drinking beautifully and should continue to do so for […]

Robert Parker’s new tasting note for Carmes Haut-Brion 2012 : 94 « This is another bottled wine that dramatically out-performed its barrel sample. »

« An inky, bluish-black color, this wine has deep black raspberry and blueberry notes mixed with charcoal, graphite ans subtle smoke. Rich, full-bodied and silky textured, this complex, stuning Pessac-Léognan from this tiny jewel of a vineyard near Haut-Brion is hitting all the high notes in 2012. It should drink well for 15-20. This is another […]
