"Outstanding Potential !" In the latest issue of The Wine Advocate, critic Robert M. Parker includes Château Les Carmes Haut-Brion 2006 in his "outstanding potential" list. "Another beautiful example of minerality, finesse, elegance, and complexity, this earthy, spicy 2006 exhibits sweet raspberry and red currant fruit accompanied by hints of barbecue smoke and tobacco leaf. Medium-bodied, pure, and not terribly powerful, it is built around delicacy and purity. Give it 2-4 years of bottle age, and drink it over the following 15 years." 90 points "Chateau Les Carmes Haut-Brion - The closest Vineyard to Bordeaux" par Ch'ng POH TIONG (revue WORLD'S FIRST CHINESE BORDEAUX GUIDE SINCE 2000) "Chateau Les Carmes Haut-Brion - The closest Vineyard to Bordeaux" par Ch'ng POH TIONG (revue ASIAN SOMMELIER GUIDE 2009) "FURT GROWTH, Chateau Les Carmes Haut-Brion" from James LAWTHER (THE WORLD OF FINE WINE, december 2008) "Chateau Les Carmes Haut-Brion : the last surviving vineyard in the city of Bordeaux" by CdiC Communication (comunique of press, december 2007) "2007, a pleasant surprise" by CdiC Communication (communique of presse, february 2008) "2008 no time to wasre !

FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF THE 2007 VINTAGE - 16/01/2008
We started picking the Merlot on September 17th. The fruit was magnificent, very clean and fully ripe. The Cabernet Franc followed on September 27, also in excellent condition. We finished up with the Cabernet Sauvignon on October 2nd and 3rd.This is an exceptionally late harvest for us. The explanation lies in the inconsistent weather conditions through the summer which stretched the ripening over a longer period than normal. The season ended with over three weeks of perfect, hot, sunny weather in September. The fermentations went very well and the newborn wines are now safely in barrels, beginning the aging process. This was a “viticulturalist’s vintage” which emphasized the importance of our painstaking work in the vineyard to promote ripeness and to protect the fruit from damage. It’s said that good wines are made in the vineyard: this vintage proves it, and we’re very satisfied! In the end, this is a year that will reveal pleasant surprises. Pénélope Furt Roche
